Chemnitzer Linux-Tage 2026¶
With a great pleasure we participated the CLT2026 on 28th and 29th of March 2026. We contributed a talk and a workshop about Linux network configuration and routing in the DFZ1
Info
The recording and materials of our contributions at CLT2026 are in German, as that is the main language used at the event.
µInternet Workshop¶
There were 15 pods at the routing workshop, each operated by two participants. Each pod got one of the prepared roles assigned. We had the three roles of multi-homed organizations, ISP2 and IXP3.
Each pod was equipped with appropriate hardware. We had various small routing appliances, mostly Lanner NCA-15010 and Sophos SG/XG hardware. The appliances were prepared with an unconfigured RKOS installation. The IXP3s also got a compact class switch to connect their peers.

The pods need to get in touch with each other to negotiate for peering and transit so an incredible beautiful tangle of (peering) cables spread over the hole room at the end of the workshop. Each pod had a temporary ASN4 and IPv6 PI5 assignment. We used tunnel based BGP6 uplinks for IP transit and a peering at the DD-IX Dresden Internet Exchange. Although the participants had a very different experiences in Linux networking and Internet routing, each pod succeeded setting up peering and getting reachable.
We were very pleased with how the workshop went and with the participants' enthusiasm. We would like to thank the participants for their positive feedback and all the volunteers who helped with the preparation or during the workshop.
Declarative Network Configuration on NixOS¶
Marcel held a presentation about declarative network configuration in NixOS. He contributes the IfState packaging in NixOS. There is a recording of his talk:
